Somatic maternal mental health therapy

Feel like you again

Helping you finally catch your breath

during the intense and transformative stages of parenthood.

this is not how you thought things would go

You’re just trying to keep your head above water

Nothing has ever felt quite the same since starting your family.

You’re going through the motions,

but inside your body and mind there is so much more going on

Family planning can be a quiet, radical transformation. Some journeys are carefully planned, some unexpected, and many take turns no one could have expected. Often, there is grief no one sees.

Maybe you’re a new parent, you couldn’t be more informed, and you want to do anything you can to work through any mental blocks. Maybe you’re further down the road and find yourself thinking WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS. The little support you had fizzled out, or you have to return to work, there seems like no end in sight.

Maybe you want to have a different experience this time or know there is a lot to work through before trying again. Perhaps you’ve been postpartum, breastfeeding, and pregnant again for YEARS. Sometimes you wonder if you’re cut out for this. It’s not that you don’t love your kids, it’s just between the mental load, moments of rage, and mom guilt, it’s hard to even think how to make meaningful time for yourself.

Maybe you feel like you’re at a loss with your older kid, it’s hard to reach them and you feel powerless. You know they’re hurting, but it’s so hard to find a therapist they’ll actually engage with and seems like meaningful work is happening. It’s nerve-racking to trust a therapist because you know they’re still trying to figure out where they fit in.

Your relationship has faded to logistics. It feels like you’re about to blow a fuse. Maybe you experience symptoms in your body that you can’t figure out. It’s hard to trust there’s any relief. It’s just been really hard for a while, and it’s hard to imagine anything shifting soon.

  • What would life look like if you felt seen and understood?

  • What would change if you started to believe that you are enough?

  • What if you and your loved ones discovered more meaningful connection and sense of belonging?

therapy you look forward to

hey, i’m Trina.

let’s start where the body is, instead of the story

I help moms, new parents, and older kids to quiet the storm and grow into the next season in life with confidence.  In therapy with me, you’ll find safe space and gentle support to tune into your body as a doorway to your mind. I’ll meet you where you’re at and help you find and process experiences that are stuck in your nervous system—in ways that aren’t too much too fast, for you to finally heal. You won’t have to fit everything into words, and you’ll notice things start shifting in everyday life much faster than with solely traditional talk therapy. When you start with a sensation instead of the story, you feel something different:

an experience that sets change into motion

Becoming a parent changes everything long after the first year or so. Your brain, your body, your identity, your relationships, your priorities. The word for this development phase is Matrescence, and it is arguably lifelong and not linear. There is a word for what you’ve been experiencing. I believe that if every mother knew about Matrescence, their journey into motherhood would be easier. This space is for parents, especially mothers, at any season in their journey of motherhood.

brainspotting

Push talk therapy aside and experience how eye positions can access different parts of the brain to set into motion deep, rapid healing. Developed by Dr. David Grand, Ph.D. in 2003, Brainspotting is a somatic (brain-body based), relational therapy that can be woven into your sessions as much or as little as you choose. Sometimes your heart needs to catch up with what your brain already knows.

Specialized as one of Southern Utah’s only Certified Brainspotting Practitioners.
